DOCTOR WHO?
WARNING: You are now entering the Whoniverse, all non-Whovians may want to call it quits and watch a few CollegeHumor videos...
WARNING NUMBA TWO:
This is a rant and a review in one...
For most people, this holiday was focussed on music, movies, food, and the whole shabang that we call Christmas. But if you're someone like me, December 25th wasn't just an ordinary day. All around the world on Christmas Day there was a question being asked, a question all Whovians have been dying to know the answer to: Doctor Who?
Now since this is the question that everyone wanted to know, there were a lot of mixed emotions about figuring it out. In all the promos it seemed as if we would finally know the name of our beloved Time Lord friend from Gallifrey. But did we find out? No. SO WHAT'S HIS NAME MOFFAT?
I guess we'll never know...
On another note, I would like to bring up a big problem with the Christmas special. The excess of feels. I had a bucket labeled "feels" and what happened to that bucket? It overflowed several times! In all honesty, I was expecting a decent amount, but there were a few moments that just got me a bit misty. In order of tears, emotions, and sadness, here is the list of mentionable moments in "The Time of the Doctor":
5. Handles: At first I was surprised that the Doctor would ally with a Cyberman, well Cyberhead, but in a few minutes I knew that this was no ordinary, emotionless, and heartless robot. Apparently the Doctor programmed Handles and over the coarse of many years, Handles became his assistant. Handles discovers that the planet that the Doctor and thousands of other aliens have been orbiting is actually Gallifrey. *GASP* Oh and then what had to happen? Handles dies! Totally needed that on Christmas! Who knew a Cyberman could make me cry?
4. Sending Clara Away: All Whovians know the number one rule of travelling with the Doctor is that he lies. If we need to reinforce this rule, I recommend going back and watching "Doomsday" if you really want to experience that again. This was not a rule our favorite Clara Oswald knew of, but boy would she learn it fast. Since the Doctor was in a state of complete chaos on the planet "Christmas" or as we know it, Trenzalore, he did something he has done to many a companion. Sent Clara home. Remind you of any moment? Perhaps this one? Too soon? Or maybe it's just another similarity... spooky.

3. Matt Smith Aging: We all knew that the Doctor was going to regenerate on Christmas Day, but when it would occur in the episode was the question. As "The Time of the Doctor" progressed we saw Matt Smith becoming older on Trenzalore, defeating villans, saving the planet, and dancing in celebration with the town folk. For me, this was extremely emotional. Seeing Smith who's only thirty-one slowly age into what looked like an eighty-year old man was painful. You could see the longing in both Smith's eyes and his regeneration to remain as the current incarnation of the Doctor.

2. The Doctor Allying with the Silence: Did not see this one coming at all, not to mention the fact that the whole "Silence will fall when the question is asked" thing got completely wrapped up. Who would have thought that one of the scariest villans of the past few seasons became an ally later on? Not this girl for sure. Point one Moffat.
1. Pre-regeneration Matt Smith: Before his new kidneys with an unfavored color, before a whole new regeneration cycle began, there was an incredibly dramatic regeneration for our favorite giraffe. Everyone was waiting for the inevitable goodbye from Matt Smith although nobody wanted it to occur. Watching Matt's final moments on TV as the Doctor definitely brought up some waterworks here at the Mason house.

Although he was not my Doctor, watching Matt Smith regenerate was definitely an emotional experience. He was a bright, bubbly, and welcoming Doctor for sure, but not one who was entirely cheerful throughout his entire run. He lost things that we will never be able to understand, he nearly watched his people burn, and he saw things too terrible to imagine. We will always love you Raggedy Man, but it is time to say goodnight.
